Doug Lienemann is a lifelong resident of Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1974 and is a 1978 graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  Doug Lienemann is a retired Certified Public Accountant, retired member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, retired member of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Doug Lienemann married Mary Moats in 1977, and they have three children, Laura, Joe and Jim and four grandchildren. With the children on their own they enjoy spending time together, volunteering in the community, with their church, traveling and being involved with their children and grandchildren's activities.

Doug Lienemann is the former Chief Financial Officer of Midwest Steel Works, Inc. from 1986 until his retirement in 2018 and also served on the Board of Directors of Midwest Steel Works, Inc. Prior to joining Midwest Steel he worked for eight years in public accounting with the CPA firms of Dana F. Cole and Company and BKD.

Doug Lienemann was elected President of the Lienemann and Sterns Charitable Foundations on January 1, 2015.  He currently serves as Foundation President of the Lienemann and Sterns Charitable Foundations as well as Trustee of the University of Nebraska Foundation and Trustee of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.  Doug is a member of the Executive Board of the Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America. He is the Past President of the Ethel S. Abbott Charitable Foundation, Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America, Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation and Homestead Presbytery.  He served as an officer and director of the Downtown Lincoln Association, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Trustee of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church Foundation, and a dean’s advisory Board member of the College of Business Administration for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.  He served on the West Haymarket Action Team that envisioned and brought to fruition the Pinnacle Bank Arena project in Lincoln, was a member of the 2015 Lincoln Vision Group and the Allocations Cabinet of the Lincoln/Lancaster County United Way.
