Our Founding History
Welcome to the Lienemann Charitable Foundation. The Foundation was organized on September 1, 1967 by Delmar A. Lienemann, Sr., Charlotte P. Lienemann and Paul F. Lienemann. Paul F. Lienemann served as a trustee until September 14, 1974 at which time he retired from the board and was replaced by Delmar A. Lienemann Jr. The other two founders Delmar A. Lienemann, Sr. and Charlotte P. Lienemann served as trustees up to the date of their deaths. Charlotte P. Lienemann passed away on March 16, 1995 and Delmar A. Lienemann, Sr. passed away on September 17, 2018.
The purpose of this Private Foundation is to receive, administer, and disburse donations, gifts, devises and bequests consisting of money or other personal property or real estate, and the income therefrom exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes, including the encouragement of art, and funding of disadvantaged human or animal programs. The fund shall not attempt to influence legislation or participate in or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
The first substantial grant from the Foundation was made in 1970 in the amount of $2,170.00, a gift to Christ Lutheran Church for outside lighting as a memorial for David E. Lienemann, son of Del and Charlotte Lienemann, a gallant young boy who lost his fight on March 16, 1968 with a brain tumor.
The first multiple year grant from the Foundation was made on April 30, 1975 in the amount of $25,000.00 to the Estes Park Hospital. The grant was for $1,000.00 per year for 25 years. The final payment on that grant was made in the year 2000.
The Lienemann Charitable Foundation only makes grants to 501(c)(3) organizations. The Lienemann Charitable Foundation looks at each grant request uniquely for its potential to impact people's lives and to ultimately make a difference in the community.
